Looks for some gloss black HD tank emblems, any suggestions on where to look? Didn't see much of anything at HD and my attempts online haven't turned up much that I like so far.
Good luck on that. Seems to me that guys who black out their bikes eschew tank art, including badges. And thru the years, Harleys have been all about chrome, hence, chrome tank badges. That said, if you have the skills, you can certainly...not necessarily easily...prep and paint chrome using normal automotive painting techniques, and for badges, you should be able to get good results with rattle cans.
I blacked out my 2011 FLHX when I got it...formerly lived by the ocean, was much cheaper to paint black than rechrome/replace parts...For 35 years I have used the 1961-1962 gunsight tank badge, did this time too, and it's the only chrome on it. And I thought about painting it black, but because it's the only chrome on it, it really pops, and looks outstanding. So...I will leave it. Plus what a PITA it would be!
Lots of HDs are produced with black badges and white lettering. If you want completely black emblems, go the rattle can route or if the badges are metal, have them power coated.
