Sorry to hijack, what exhaust is that? Do they have chrome version? Thx!
vance hince 2n1 classic slash cut , made in chrome and stainless . mine is powder coated black
same pipe as supertrapp 2n1 .
I cut slash cut part off .
I have a a 7" light with Bungking 12" gusseted Streetbob tbars on my FXD (they are like a mix between window bars and tbars, they work with risers as opposed to replacing them) and I absolutely and instantly noticed improved handling switching from my 12" zbars, and the zbars were better than the 10" mini apes. The geometry and width of the bar definitely affects the steering response due to changes in hand position, leverage and whatnot. So to answer you question, I like the look of my bike better with the fairing on, but it looks alright with a naked front end too, and swapping bars will change the way the bike feels, particularly in turns.
I can get some pics of the bike without the fairing, if you'd like, just let me know.
SquidHead - how do you like them, is there a big difference in riding feel or body position? How tall were your previous apes?
128Auto, hijack away - it's a sweet build!
I love them so far, stiff as hell, but haven't been able to get many miles in. They are right at the same height as my previous set up, so my hands are just below shoulder height. But the pullback is a little more than where I had my apes. I don't have enough time on them yet to say if I like it better that way or not. It's not a huge difference, but enough that I feel it...maybe an inch further back.
They aren't as narrow as I want though, so I'll be cutting an inch off the ends to move the grips in tighter. There's just over an inch of space on each side before the taper to the 1 1/4 section. Since it's tapered instead of stepped, I may even be able to come in tighter than that.
Thanks for the info SquidHead - I'm pretty sure I'm going to try for the MX T-bars before the season's wrapped here (figure I'll get them in raw and have em PC'd flat over the winter)
I could not disagree more , t bares are welded to risers eliminating riser flex , then you get into bar flex with apes that magnifies riser flex but I hate apes because they flex soo bad
So...ape hangers reduce handling capabilities? I beg to differ good sir. The only drawback for me was the long straights, were the higher speeds would open me up like a parachute, but on curves? Not really. Taking curves with ape hangers was just as fun. As for the flex, there are polyurethane riser bushings that will reduce that, and if you're more of an extremist, brass riser bushings are also available.

I have never seen apes that did not flex and solid bushings with risers still flex more than tbars , when you've been riding Harleys 30 years we can talk about how im wrong

Well, by the time I've accumulated that many years of riding, you may not be around to discuss this, so what better time than now?
First off, when exactly did I say there would be NO flex? I said better bushings would reduce (not eliminate) "noticeable" flex. I used 20'' inch apes and the twisties were not a problem, the straights were. (because of wind resistance at high speeds)
I just happen to agree with HogPro when he says
It is really more a preference of looks and comfort.
