So you have two sets of baffles installed?

I installed straight through baffles in the pipes. I put the blocked baffles in first but it wasn't the sound I was looking for. The straight through baffles sound good.

I still have the other pipes. The pipes themselves are still good but the heat shields and muffler look like crap. I was thinking about just wrapping the pipes and replacing the muffler, and trying to re-jet the carb to tweak out the blow-back and decel popping. However, I do not have a clue what slip-on will work with those pipes. I am new at this but from what I can tell, the pipes look exactly like HD Fat Bob pipes I see in photos.
Size is determined by the id of the header pipe where it bolts on to the exhaust manifold. The cone drops into the header and has a lip that holds it in place when you bolt the flange up.

No, two pairs of baffles and fiberglass wrap came with the exhaust system. One pair was blocked on the end toward the head pipe and the other pair were open. I discarded the fiberglass and installed the blocked pair first. The sound was a low rumble and I noticed a definite difference with the low end torque, and some with the mid-range. The blow-back and decel popping I had with the 2 into 1 header pipes was gone. After a couple of weeks, I changed to the open baffles which produced a louder rumble close to straight-through drag pipes that I was going for and I noticed a slight decrease in throttle response in 3rd and 4th gear. The engine did not increase RPM as quick and did not pull as hard as with the 2 into 1 headers.

I talked to an indy mechanic who told me that was what torque cones were designed for and a HD dealer service manager who indicated that torque cones "might" give me back some of what I lost. My research resulted in similar mixed opinions. Samson claims they will increase performance but their torque cones cost almost as much as I paid for the whole new exhaust system. On the other hand, Mid USA cones sell for under $20, shipped. I thought that torque cones might be worth checking out since they are easy to put in and take out and was trying to find out from folks who have experience with these if there is a significant difference between the Samson and cheaper Mid USA cones.

And, even though I am not all that fond of the look and cannot stand the blow-back and popping, there is also the option of just wrapping the 2 into 1 headers and putting them back on with a new slip-on and trying different jet combinations to try to tweak out the blow-back and decel popping.

i should add they go in the end of the pipe to supplement the current baffle

I also run these http://www.smartpartz.com/index.html with V&H Straight Shots and really like both the sound and performance.

You have to have a pretty crummy exhaust that torque cones are the answer. Drap pipes and torque cones are an historic fix for bikes that are running consistently at just one high RPM e.g. drag racing. If you have some pipes on a street bike that gain from having torque cones then you have a bunch of problems that two rings of steel aren't the magic bullet fix to.

Basically, torque cones are going to turn a crap exhaust into a less well flowing crap exhaust.

I have seen the evidence at the Dyno, you just can't handle anyone having an opinion contrary to yours...

And you are the person with consistently the most wrong information given. I tend to call you out on this and you can't handle it, Skippy.

cant say how they work with EFI but with carbs they made a significant difference that you could feel in the seat of your pants. If your not going to run baffles you should try a set . they are not that much. easy to remove if you don't like them. I always had great results with them in the past.

Ok, knock off the fighting. We don't allow flame wars on HD Forums.

Cones are a waste of time and money. They do nothing to help on a big twin that will be noticeably better to performance on a dyno. A good re-map would serve you better.
