Hey Now, I have a friend that going to buy an '07 Street Bob, I asked him if he was going to get any extras like different pipes he said no. He wanted to get some slip ons but was told he would have to have it remapped, now on my '06 I put some SE II slip ons and did not have to have it remapped. Are The '07s different has anybody else been told the same thing from the dealer?
2ndary question: will it be ok to ad a K&N filter and not remap (or is that pushing it) ?

Both local dealers I talked to were adamant about remapping my 07 Super Glide when I approached them about purchasing slip-on's for it. (I'm doing a full set up later down the road). Having some minor experience working on my own bikes in the past I was leary of shelling out 150 for a download. Hell, the dealers are in business to sell you anything they can convince you to buy for your scooter ,right?
Well, I went to a guy who runs a tiny shop around the corner from me and after talking with him about a variety of pipes I approached him with the mapping thing. He gave me his honest opinion and told me that if I was only going to do slip-on's the re-map was not needed.
Now, mind you, this guy is a one man shop and he could have tried to sell me the map d/l just like the dealers to make his money and I may have not been the wiser. On the other hand, he could have sold me the pipes without mapping it and it could have run like **** and I would have been equally pissed. Instead, he was straight up with me and that will bring me back to him again cause their is now a layer of trust there.
The moral of the story is, buyer beware. Ask around alot before making suspect purchases like d/l's and the like. The more info your friend has beforehe spends, the better off he'll be.
