March 17 Protect the Wall
I'm looking forward to standing with fellow riders.
As a matter of MOST IMPORTANCE, the Longhorn Post333 of the American Legion has recently adopted a young (23) Marine Lance Corporal named Patrick Myers. Patrick is still on active duty but due to return home to Grapevine in about 30 to 60 days. Unfortunately, he is currently in San Antonio Army Hospital recovering from an IED blast in and ambush in IRAQ that occurred, ironically on the Marine Corps Birthday of10 Nov 2005. LCplMyers awoke weeks later in Maryland, but without his legs. Our Post has pledge to assist in the handicap conversionof his Grapevine home so that he and his young fiancĂŠe may live a better life.
Our initial planning meeting took place on the 3rd of March. Accompanied by some Riders from the local PF'er riding group, the Dallas (DFW Base) Defenders of Freedomand some local businesses, we made plans for the next step.

Important: When asked LCplMyers was honored toattend the WAR Memorial Event! Post 333 will issue him his Legion Riders Colors and Membership certificate to the American Legion at the memorial. After the Memorial Service Patrick has invited us to his home for a cold beer at 1400 (Provided by the TAP INN BAR and GRILL of Grapevine). Those volunteers that have already registered, and those who intend to are highly encourage to attend. Sign up sheets for the various projects and the project/foreman will be present. This is NOT a working event but a "meet and greet and sign up". So stay for 10 minutes if you like.

IF YOU CAN NOT ATTEND OR NOT BE ABLE TO HELP WITH to sign up for some chores/labor, but would like to make a donation... Please make your donation check payable to the 'American Legion' and put "PATRICK" in the "For" block on the check. If you wish to donate cash and would like a receipt...a member of Post 333 will have a receipt book on hand at the Memorial and at Patrick's home. We realized it is St Patrick's Day and you may have some other plan. But if you can squeeze a few meeting in it would be greatly appreciated.

There are TWO plans below:

Plan # 1 for those who would like to attend the War Memorial Hour Event

What these protesting idiots don't understand is that all of those names on the wall died for them so they could have their freedoms.... including freedom of speech. Now they choose to protest those very names and throw paint on them. It's no less than blasphomy to me. Sad indeed.
I only wish I could be there with you guys.
The Wall Is the Vietnam Nam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C.
There is a demonstration Sat the 17th and Jane fonda and her clan of thousands ( Includeing Cindy Shehan)
are marching a protest and some have said there gona start there
and hang protest signs and damage the aera to get attention.
There is a nationwide ride to make a human wall to surround the Wall to keep them away.
Protesting at the Vietnam Nam Memorial Wall??
I don't get it.
Wish I could be there.
Good luck with your effort.
Hope it all works out well.
To be perfectly honest, I hope the area that does get damaged is

When these idiots stage their protests in DC, their minions around the country usually go out to their local memorial sites and do the same thing. If you recall the last "peace march" in DC, the protesters spray painted the capitol steps and other monuments as the police just stood by and watched.
There is a Vietnam war memorial in Dallas at Fair Park. There will be MANY riders there to stand for that monument on the 17th. Many of us are Patriot Guard Riders. Many others are just patriotic people; some on scooters, some in cages. Regardless, EVERYONE is welcome. We will be gatheroing around 9am at the memorial. Protester conflict? Who knows. The PGR is by its charter, NOT a counterprotest group. At solider missions, we NEVER interract with or even acknowledge the protesters. However, this is not a PGR mission. [8D] It could be nothing more than a beautiful day with a peaceful gathering of denim, leather, and chrome. One can always hope for that anyway. One can also prepare for the other...
Here in SATx we have a group of memorials in front of the Municipal Auditorium.
VietNam, and WW2.
Gonna have to look into this.
Have you any info on SATx??
As for the "protesters spray painted the capitol steps and other monuments as the police just stood by and watched".
I'd really like to see some news footage like this -
Jack boots and billy clubs curb to curb.
I do hope things go well for you guys in bigD on the 17th.
