Default Wide Glide Lowering

So I'm looking at lowering my dyna, with either the Burly slammer 10.5 or progressive 412's 11.5.

I dont ride 2 up and do understand the ride will be stiffer. I weight 180 & Im mainly looking to cruz around locally. 10-60 mile rides.

As you can see from my sig, I have V&H 2into2. My question is does anyone that has the lowering kits run into problems with speed bumps or other such instances. I know my turn angle will be decreased, but the reason I went with a WG is to force myself into riding with more brains and less *****. (no wheelies, no darting into traffic, or setting speed records through twisties.)

At the same time not sure I want to get hung up on a speed bump pulling into walmart or ruin my fender by bottoming out.

Interested to hear any stories around others experience with this.

There are a bunch of threads on this topic. But, to answer your question, your riding style will adjust. I lowered mine with Burly's and couldn't be happier. You will need to negotiate turns, speed bumps etc with a bit more caution, but nothing too obtrusive. You can't beat the look. Your short mileage riding and lack of two up begs for a lowered look. Just slow her down over speed bumps and tight turns...no biggie

BTW I have never "bottomed" out on the fender on lowest preload setting and I weigh @210lbs

Could just be looking for the re-assurance before buying them.

/agree on just begging to be lowered

At one point was considering a hardtail; just couldnt make that leap. IMO there is just too much room between the fender and tire. Looks like a bad 80s du or something.

I would be super careful lowering with those pipes. People already have problems scraping the stock exhaust and I'm pretty sure those hang down a lot lower than stock. As long as you take it real easy I think you should be good.

Those pipes aren't any worse than stockers, actually they probably give more clearance.

I have the burly slammer's on my dyna. I did crash it last season after scraping stock exhaust when riding like an a*sh*le.

Currently i still have the slammer shocks, V&H big radius 2-2 and i LOVE it.
Dont get me wrong i still scrape them, clip footpegs, bottom out over bigger bumps and such. But am no longer fearful of crashing on any road at any speed.

After reading your original post, you don't have anything to worry about man. You'll love it.

I do strongly suggest removing your left passenger peg and bracket for clearance(very simple) and a shorter jiffy stand for extra lean when parking your machine. (bike will stand up very close to straight on stock stand)

I have never bottomed out, rides a little stiffer but not bad, The riding changes are almost unnoticeable. Im 180lbs, But I use a lepara bare bones seat [thinnest production seat on market] which I can ride 1hr before it hurts butt. Put stock solo back on and it rides 90-95% stock like. heres a good back end pic.

Looks good... +1 on the Lepara and Joker turn sig, very nice! What type of battery bag is that?

Most likely will pull the passenger pegs, dont think the wife wants to ride at all. I've read alot of posts about the -1 stand and think I will go with it vs grinding the stock one. Ive already encountered several instances of parking on angles that would have been a pain if any worse.

the bag is
http://www.badgcustoms.net/index.html

great service, made to order, but need to remove battery box trim which takes some major effort. its held on with some type of glue. then bag bolts on using factory holes.
