I had fitment issues for Progressive 440's at 13.5 inches n my '07 FXDWG. They hit my mufflers near the swing arm mounting point. I couldn't reinstall my mufflers after putting the shocks on. They wouldn't work with my Rhineharts, nor the stock mufflers. I checked with a set of skinnier Cycle Shacks I had, and they did fit with the smaller diameter muffler. Ended up sending the. Back and got stock height (12.5" for my ride).
I've got the v&h big shots that stop before my axle bolt so I don't anticipate any problems with the fitment. Unless you think otherwise?
One thing I forgot. Whatever you choose make sure you space them right to the swing arm. I had to fab some spacers and upgrade to a longer grade 8 bolt on the left side.
I am also looking to add some 13-13.5 shocks to my FXDB/F, as I really really don't like the tail-dragger look, and am trying to get it to look like a standard-stance bike. It seems like I'm swimming upstream, as every retailer only carry kits for lowering the back, and not raising it up.
I've got 12.5" shocks on now, and the tail still sits too low for my tastes.
12.6 works for me along with 2 into 1 exhaust. The exhaust has a slight upsweep and I haven't dragged it. I also have a lower profile 170/60R-17 rear tire.
Do you have washers stacked at the bottom mount or is my mind playing tricks on me?
In the picture yes I had washers but I have since fabbed a spacer out of aluminum. The eye on the stock shocks were thicker then the progressives so without the spacer the shock angle was off.
still looking for help if ANYBODY has run 13.5" Progressive 412s on a dyna??
OK I will answer here. You cannot run Sportster shocks of any type on a Dyna as the leverage ratio is way different than a Dyna. Your options for 13.5 inch shocks are pretty much as follows.
The cheapest option is a set of used FXDX 13.6 inch fully adjustable shocks, then the options go up from there with Ohlins,JRI,and Ricors.
The FXDX 13.6 inchers usually sell for about 250-400 bux a set depending on mileage and condition, the Ohlins,Ricors, and JRIs usually run about 800-1400 bux a set depending on options specified.
I asked progressive about making the long Sporty Shocks 412s I beleive for the Dyna and they didnt reply to me on another forum.
