Well in late August I bought my first bike other than dirt bikes for my birthday. It's a 99 fxdx. I guess that means I'm one of the *** SOA wanna-bes but this seems like one of the better platforms for a solid performing harley (other than an FXR.) Most of the expensive mods that I would have done were already done on the bike I bought so now I'm in the process of adding and subtracting little things. When I bought it it was stock except the t-header, ac, black fork lowers, and progressive shocks. The guy sold me some mag wheels that he was going to have pc and he threw in a ness quarter fairing. I swapped out the wheels and installed the fairing. I bought a hogrida license plate and d2moto taillight. I'm in the process of adding biltwell trackers with 4" risers and new grips. I decided I dont like the fairing so that's off now, too. A guy I met through a stand up jetski forum makes visual carbon fiber t-sport fairing and I plan on calling him Monday. Eventually I want to get some leatherpros bags and maybe one day I'll buy a bulletproof 525 camchest from dynamic dyna, but first I should probably get a helmet, and get my motorcycle endorsement.
My first question for this thread is what is the best way keep the cables from sticking out so oddly in front of the forks?
Sick Bike man. Awesome first bike your gonna love that. i rode for 2 years with out a endorsement. its better now tho 110 on the highway is less stressful.
I am extremely envious. That is one bitchn ride. Yep you need to do cam upgrade, front brake upgrade, Front fork work and a few other fairly minor tweaks to refine it. Keep the bars low and install that cool quarter fairing and you will have the ride everyone will dream about. Just remember to lock it up.

The brake lines need the slack to function with the up/down movement of the forks. I pulled a little slack out of my FXDC lower brake line when I installed 4 1/2" risers, but made sure that there was enough slack for fully extended forks. Check the lower tree and see if they are held in place with rubber grommets. If so, some slack may be pulled from there. Just not too much. tomp dd50
