I am at a point on my 07 electra glide at near 50k miles of needing a belt and pulley replaced. Wondering if another strong point of a chain isn't how it handles a gravel road? Or maybe it's ease of changing compared to the belt. Most have better belt pulley wear and I'm thinking my 1 mile to the highway might be contributing to this. Some good points listed, and I never considered the torque difference chain vs belt.
To the OP, looking forward to your final pics. gonna subscribe to this thread.

Dirt roads is another good point, don't have ti worry about rocks stuck in the belt. You don't get more torque from the chain drive, it's just able to handle more. But it's easily regeared to simulate more torque if that's what you meant.

I said it wrong. Chain is able to possibly handle more torque it seems. Also think that the small gravel has done damage to the pulley more than it will a sprocket. Not sure just assuming but ya know what they say about assumptions.
