Just wondering: if I don't use 1 of the fobs and keep it a long way from the bike will the battery in the fob lose it's charge. Is it constantly trying to "ping" the bike's alarm or does the bike ping for a nearby fob. Probably not a major issue, just curious.

the fob constantly sends a signal no mather which location it is in.
the battery in the fob is designed to last about two years.
and, it can be replaced very easily..

Any problems with keeping your battery charged? I had an alarm installed on my 05 WG but had to take it out because it was draining my battery. I thought it was a problem with the battery but after replacing 2, I finally realized the common denominator was the new alarm. Once removed, no more battery problems. Just curious how it's working for you.
Somebody once told me to keep the keys away from the bike when you are at home or whatever because that is when it will start using a lot of battery.
It makes sense because the bike will have that Key light light up when you are near it, but at the same time it doesnt make sense because if it is not sending signals at all times, how do they communicate when its near by?
Not sure about keeping the fob away as to how long the battery will last. I change mine every spring, they are cheap and easy to change and the over ride code is a pain in the ****....As far as draining the bike battery, no clue as I use a tender on mine when she is parked at home.

No problems with draining the battery but I ride it almost everyday. When I'm not going to ride it for awhile I put on the battery tender. I'm sure it would drain it if you didn't ride it often though.
