Yea, that makes sense. To late to mess with tonight. I will pull it apart tomorrow and try a looser adjustment on cable and watch how it interacts with clutch. Thanks for the input.

Two Lane...if you are the type that set at lights with the clutch pulled in, and have been for 70k miles, then you may have warped/burned steels in your clutch! Bet that a plate change will do it!

LOL, no, that would not be me. That was just one of those boys playing around deals. I always (99.9%) of the time kick into neutral. Comes from the suicide clutch days. BTW, how is Boise. My ex is from that area and I lived in Ketchum for 15 years. I miss the Rockies.

Well...Ketchum and the Rockies are still here...so is Boise! I don't know about Nampa tho! Gonna miss the ride up to Galina summit for the winter...hell I'm gonna miss riding anywhere for the winter! Good to hear you're not one of those challenged people who sit at lights with the clutch pulled in! A sure sign of a novas rider! Good luck with yer clutch! Stay Real!

Sooo, I took all the slack out of the lever. The good news is it quit pulling, the bad news is it's one stiff MFen pull. Shifts very clean. So in theory, if I only went 1/4 turn on the adjustment screw I could loosen the lever a little giving it an easier pull? I guess at 70k I need to start thinking about a new clutch.

Well it is ok to test it that tight but you do not want to run it that way. The slack is so that the throw out bearing is not under constant load, this will wear it out real quick.
In all honesty if the bike shifts ok at half turn and the only problem is when you rev the motor, then I would live with it(or kick in neutral if you have the urge:-)
A little warp in a plate is not necessary a bad thing, it keeps the clutch from grabbing. As the warped plate makes contact it starts pulling a little at a time gradually pulling more as it engages more, kind of like a buffer.
I don't know what kind of riding that you do, stop and go or highway but these clutches can go 150 pretty easy.
You might also just pull it apart and look at the plates and just replace the bad ones.

Thanks for your input Harley cruiser. Most of my riding is in the mountains. I live near Yosemite and love the twisties. BTW, sweet looking ride. Nice job!!!
