Nothing will perform like a good 2-1, but sound is subjective. You may like it & you may not.
Personally, I love my D&D Fatcat. It is loud, but riding down the highway it's not loud at all since it exits so far back. It's quieter for the rider than most 2-2 systems when cruising on the highway. Crack the throttle and it really barks though.
Here is a link to a video of my bike idling right after installation of Wood TW-222 cams & D&D Fatcat w/ Big Boar baffle & dyno tuned with SEPST. It's hard to tell from the video, but it's very deep & throaty.
If you are looking for performance 2 in 1 with some kind of baffle will work best like Supertrapp or Thunder header is what seems to be the consensus. Some don't like the looks of the 2 in 1...
I had a 1400.00 set that fell apart and sounded like **** regardless of what I did to them. After extensive research, several bike night listen in's I finale decided on a set of rush staggered true dual crossovers. Look great, sound superb, totally tune able, and fairly priced I pulled the trigger and have not one regret, available at most HD shops or slightly cheaper on ebay if you plan on the install and tune yourself you just can't go wrong IMO .
Here's a pic. Definitely worth a look on your part. All the looks and performance and sound of vance and hines without the price tag shock and let's not forget the extras you end up having to buy if you do go with VH pipes these left me happy with no regrets.

Reason: Pic
I personally run a set of Python Throwbacks. About the same sound as the big shots and look about the same. I like the fact that its a different pipe and at the last show I went to everyone was asking if they were a custom job. They come with heat wrap instead of heat shields.
