17 inch wheels front and rear ???
Anyone done this. thinking about flipping the rear spoked wheel around to run in front and buying a 17 mag wheel for the rear. Can you bolt this right up with no front end modification. Just wondering how to get a bigger front tire on the front end with minimal fuss and bother .. thank you for the replies.

My FXR build I did from the beginning has 17" X 3 3/4" rims. The rubber is the best developed in the world. I had to build the wheels at the time. As of this date these are the only 17" FLT hubs on C/F wheels to date.
I just put on another set of 17x140x80 ME 880's. I wanted to put on Radial tires but no one makes them for the rear in that size. Fender strut limites the tire width.

Why would the tire compounds be better for one specific size?

Most sport bikes run 17" wheels and they make a lot more varieties of tires in that size. Also as mentioned above radial tires also. Just more options for sticky tires then the options we have

I disagree the tires you buy are only gonna be as good as what you pay for them. As for my response you can special order tires from avon metzler and many others. Go by your local HD dealer ask the chrome consonant and they can turn you on to the manufacture that can custom make tires. But their gonna cost.
