Freezing *** cold in Okla. right now and thinking I might get a battery tender of some sort for my bike. Any suggestions on what type to buy? Its a new battery and I would like for it to survive the winter.
I bought the Harley tender about 5 years ago. It's on it's second bike and still working fine. What ever you decide, make sure it is a tender, NOT A TRICKLE CHARGER!
I also bought mine from HD in '07 and it works fine. turns off when the battery is fully charged and every now and then turns on again to keep the charge up.
Our shop truck has a "tender" on it that works really well also. We got it at Grangers. Not sure of the brand right now but may look at one of those also. Are the ones you folks talking about attached to the bike or just plug in types that don't actually bolt to the bike?
Works great and runs about $40-45 at Autozone. There are a bunch of trickle chargers to consider, just make sure you get one that is "automatic" so you can just plug it in and it maintains the battery as needed.

The Harley tender comes with a cable to attach permanently at the battery itself. After that it's just a matter of attaching the tender to the bikes cable which takes about 2 seconds. Very convenient!
