Default advice for hassle free slip-ons

I have a 2006 street bob. just wonder which slip-ons i can add with minimal changes. dealer says if i use screaming eagle, i have to change the air filter set up and retune the efi.
i read v and h have a mellow system which would suit me as i live in an apartment block with a lot of cops.

Plenty on here with slip-ons without air-filter and remaps.
Dealer wants to sell you those....

However, I've got the V&H slip-ons with no other mods andyou do get a bit of popping and banging on decel with them, as has been experienced by others with the V&H ones, so a remap is probably a good idea really. I will be getting the Stage filter and remap in a few months time.
I've not got the optional 'quiet' baffles fitted and the V&H are loud, the quiet baffles actually apprently don't make them quieter, really more of a tone change.
So, the V&H may not be what you are needing in your situation.
Best try and hook up with a few others that have various systems to hear before you buy.
Ihad heard a Bob with the SE ones and wasn't that impressed with the sound, then heard one with the V&H.......and that's why I went with the V&H...plus I liked the smooth look of the V&H ones as well.

I've wondered this too. If you change the pipes but leave the stock air cleaner why would you need a remap. Wouldn't the stock AC keep the airflow through the engine the same as before?

i also noticed that a lot of bikes with VH pipes have forward shifters but I'd like to keep mine at the stock position on the Bob. is it possible to get the systems and or slip-ons without having to move the foot controls?
thanks in advance (this is a great board!)

Slip-on's, V&H or any other make, are just a muffler change and keep the original head pipes, so no need to change anything relating to the foot controls if you don't want to....

hi
the v&h slip-ons as mentioned by the othersmay bea good solution for you.
i have them on my Bob.
you dont mention why you want to change them. if its for some sound improvement then
you dont have to change the air filter as well.
if its for performance then....well, where do you stop.......

the original pipes are very restrained so you will get extra air flow. some people get away without having to add any extra parts, some, or most end up later adding some type of tuner to rebalance fuel/air flow.

i have the v&h quite baffles, buddy has the standard ones, and we find a big difference, in tone and resulting noise effect. (the baffles arent too expensive, so could get em and check.

A StreetBob in Hong Kong must be a sight....!!!....I get there now and then on the way home from work in Taiwan/China a few times a year. Cool place..!!

look into the D&D's. they have a set that are the exact same size as the rest of th stock pipe and pretty inexpensive i think. the baffles are relatively tame too, especially if you don't whack on it.

I have Cycle Shack Turn outs and I dont have an Upgraded AC or SERT. I dont get any popping on decel either. I changed mine purely to get a better sound out of my Bike , not performance. Hopefully I can stop here. If I find that inthe summer that Im running too lean then Ill get a SERT and AC just to balance it out. As others have said the dealers looking to sell you more crap. Youll get better INFO on this site than at any dealership. Infact most of the service Writers dont know sheet and are only there to answer the phone and field general questions , and do paperwork.
