Parts arrived this evening. Can't wait to get rolling on this. Going to order a new handlebar clamp this week I think, one on there will look outta place with all the other new parts.
So, started tearing things apart today and have hit a snag. Well, maybe not a snag, but it has brought me to a stop. I am trying to pull the harnesses out of the frame to unplug them. They seem to be kind of stuck. I've tugged on them pretty good, and only about 1" or a little more has come out. I'm kind of apprehensive to pull much harder, I don't want to do any damage. I was under the impression that these plugs were somewhat close to the hole in the frame, and pretty easy to gain access too. Being a 2002, is the wiring that much different?
So, did some reading in the manual. Says the harness has plenty of length, but may become snagged on the inside of the frame and may require some working it back and forth to get the connectors out. At least now I feel better knowing I'm not experiencing anything out of the norm.
Been watching Seahawks walk all over Saints, so at halftime I went back down to the garage. Found a flashlight this time, and was able to see that the connectors were about 2" from the hole. Decided to grab hold of all the harnesses coming out of the frame and really put my weight into it. They're out!!!
OK, got the switch housings and harnesses off the old bars. Feel like I'm moving like a snail on this, but first time doing it and don't wanna f*@K it up. Took few pics as I've gone.
Got a question for anyone that may have an answer. I bought a set of Arlen Ness riser bushings, the ones that have the recessed washers and bolts. My question concerns the ground wire that was connected to the stock riser bolts. Any ideas where I should/could mount it other than the riser bolt? I was thinking on one of the bottom clamp bolts, under the top clamp. But not sure this is a good idea. Out of curiosity, what exactly is this ground for??
