Wasn't really sure where to post this. I want to put 16" apes on a '13 SB. I know MA law says shoulder height, but how strict are the cops in the Boston area? I'm 5'11" so they'll probably be just above shoulder height. Also any suggestions as far as which apes? I like the roland sands but I heard its a pain to do the wiring
No offense but 16" bars at your height will put your fists above your shoulders. I'm 6'1" and my 14s are at shoulder height. Roland Sands make a really nice bar. Most any bar of that shape can be a pain in the *** to wire. But patience and persistance pays off. Use plenty of baby powder and I find several flex ties buckled together adn electrical taped works best. The buckle of the flex tie overlaps and locks in with the connector for a strong bond and pulls it straight instead of folding over and binding. Good luck!
Never been stopped for my exhaust, reflectors or bars. I have 14s Im 6'2" and there right at my shoulders or a little above since I don't ride sitting up straight
6'7'' running 16'' apes and a Bare Bones seat on an 09' SB and the bars are right at my shoulders. I've never been stopped in Boston, but I have in surrounding areas and never had them question them. I also know cops that ride and they've never asked me about them.
Depends on the cop and they day they are having or if you're riding like a dick they will probably look for any way to add additional charges.
Now that is about as pathetic as it gets. What a douche.
Hardly. The pathetic douche was the one who pulled me over, just after I got out, and moved back up here. On terminal leave, Texas plates, and gave me a REAL hard time, threatened to lock me up, all kinds of jackassery. I almost lost my cool when he threw my ID and DL on the ground....
I have had very few positive run ins with LEOs, so I tend to stay clear....
