Back in late 1990 I was looking to buy a 1200 Sportster, Yellow and white two tone that was in the brochure that year. Went to NYC HD in September after selling my 79, no nice talk, no how are you. Just took me in the office, told me the bike would be in April 1991 and they need a $500 deposit today. Back then it was all demand and no supply.
So I walked. January I am at the MC Show at the Javits and a local used bike dealership has the exact bike I want with 7 miles on it. Someone bought it, brought it home and the wife said no way. Instead of going back to the dealership he went to this local place and must have taken a bath.
So now I buy the bike "used" with 7 miles on it, three months earlier and for about $1000 less then the dealership. Then my father gets the idea to call Milwaukee about the warranty. He fills out some paper work and they transfer the warranty over to me and give me the one year HOG membership as if I just bought the bike new.
And then I went back to the same dealership and had them do all of the free warranty and recall work. Idiots never even wondered were I got the bike because per MoCo I bought it new.
PS when I bought my 97 Dyna new from the dealership, it had 13 miles on it, go figure.
6 months before i bought my switchback i bought a new wide glide black with flames, they let me have it for $12800.... needless to say one month later the switchback came out.. after 5 months of drooling every time i seen one in the dealership i decided to ask what they would give me for the wide glide with a few hundred in mods done in 5 months and 2300 miles on it on trade... since it was still a new model year bike AND it was december which is a slow month for bike sales with christmas coming they gave me $12777 for trade and knocked $500 off the switchback to $15499....
im far from flush with cash but i knew if i waited until spring i would get a lot less
for trade and i knew in the long run everytime i seen a switchback i would yearn for it.... so dont think just because the mileage is low and its in the same model year that something is wrong....
Congrats from a fellow FLD owner. My wife and I bought ours this past Oct (I got the blue, she the red). Love the bike. I only have a little over 500 miles on it, but love it.
Good luck and enjoy!

I also have a 13 switchback in big blue pearl. Love it. Got D&D fatcat, all led lighting, RSD judge ac, and I have RSD vintage shortstack bars with tracker grips to go on soon. Enjoy your sweet Dyna.
Welcome to the family! You will love the switchback.
