"08-up 25mm axle, I made the wheel spacers. Used fat bob lowers to get the caliper mount on the right side and an adapter to mount the caliper.

I went from a softail to an FXDXT a few years back. Huge difference in the ways that the two bikes handle.

 

Soft tails do look great, but they just do not do it for me in the fun department. I couldn't decide between a fat boy and a dyna until I rode both. The dyna handles better, more fun to ride, and feels more like a Harley should feel to me. After spending a lot of money on my FXDC, I like the looks as well as any softail model.

 

As already stated, all you need is some real suspension. You would be suprised what just a pair of 13" Hagons and some uprated fork springs over Ricor Intimidators will do. Best part is it really doesn't change the look much at all. Yeah, what a sleeper canyon carver.
