Hey guys, what is the average MPG on your dyna superglide? I recently installed the heavy breather intake and took it to the dealer so they can adjust the fuel injection. However, now the mpg its just awful. By the time I ride 90 miles the gauge shows that I am riding on fumes. Also, when i pump gas, the tank tops at 3.5 gallons. I was under the impression that the dyna had a bigger tank than 3.5.. Has anyone else experienced that?
thank you all for the help
Tank capacity is a bit under 5. If you were to actually run the bike out of gas you would need to put almost all of that back in it, but your gauge is usually conservative to prevent that. Be glad yours is that way, some gauges say you have fuel left and you don't!

Thanks, it makes sense. I might ride around the block until the bike turns off. that way i can have an accurate number.
Your bike has the same 4.8 gal. tank as the fatbob. When my low fuel light comes on I typicaly need right about 3.2 gal. I wouldnt go off the gauge Id keep track of your mileage. If your needing 3.5 gal at 90 miles something is not right. I dont ride in stop and go traffiic and and average around 42 mpg when riding solo. When riding slower with the ol I conistantly get 46
The gauges are not very accurate. I always use the trip odometer and zero it with each fill up. To find fuel economy divide gas into miles ridden. Fuel economy is dependant on highhwY verse local and how heavy you are one the throttle. I get upper 30's to low 40's most of the time and highway upper 40's.
When I first got my 08 FXD I got around 49 to 50 mpg. I would ride 200 miles and it would take about 4 gal to fill up. Since I started messing with everything I only get about 45 now. Can't really tell since I have a 2" tank lift.
i dont know how these folks get 50mpg. my 09 fatbob gets 42 on the highway ( averaging 75-80mph) and far lower in the city.
when the analog gauge shows E i have 1 3/4 gallons left but when the lowrng comes on i still have a gallon or so in the tank. also when filling up i can get another 3/4 of a gallon in it when the pump hits the autostop if i fill it to the hole.
I highly suggest you get geeked up and learn how an EFI system works. When you upgrade an engine component involving the airflow, an unbalanced system will give you crappy results. Not trying to be harsh. Just speaking from experience. Throwing your money at mechanics will only make you poor and miserable.
