Like the Bible says, "Honor thy father...", and it's cool that you are doing just that. Adding any Dyna, down the road will be fun and keep some of the stress off a 35 year old motorcycle, too. The 883 will shake your fillings out at highway speeds, but bet will be a blast to ride. Have fun, sir. tomp dd50

Congratulations on getting a Harley. The 883 is a fine choice to learn on and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Don't let it's age bother you. As long as the rubber stuff is not deteriorated you're okay. Most bikes don't get enough miles put on them to develop wear concerns.
