Default Possible 2012 Wide Glide Purchase

First time poster and thanks in advance. I recently sold my bike last fall (2005 YZF 600R) and was looking for something a little more comfortable. I have been looking at the Super Glides and Wide Glides. I have the opportunity to purchase a 2012 Wide Glide "HD Factory Bike" from a Harley dealership. They state that they purchased it off of the factory last summer (2013). It has 7 miles on it and will be titled as used. The price is right at around $13,000. The catch is that it will not have a factory warranty due to it being considered used. Does anyone out there see this as being an issue? Is the deal worth not having the warranty?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...but it should have a 2 years warranty regardless of who owns it. You might not have the full years left but there should be SOME warranty left.

All kinds of red flags going off in my mind...also thought that under 100 miles or something like that it can still be sold as new, unless they titled it..

Sorry about the rambling... kind of thinking out loud on this one.

Personally I would walk away...lots of dealerships out there with new '13s that they want to get rid of that you can get a screaming deal on...and a warranty

With that, good luck which ever way you decide to go!

Seems kind of funny if it doesn't have a warranty with 7 miles. And seems odd that it is title used. Kind of a red flag there. They gave me a four year warranty when I bought mine, standard is 2. Either way, while warranties are great, they try and weasel out of them anyway on repairs. If they want to sell it, they have the ability to make it comfortable for you, ie fix the warranty/title issue. Hopefully those more knowledgeable than I can help point you in the right direction. Welcome and good luck!!

if the bike has never been titled I would think it would be sold as new with discounted price and FULL WARRANTY! the price is good if they dont add all the dealer fees onto it. see if some one on here can run the vin for you, for all we know it was in a dealership that got flooded a year ago, cleaned up relocated. ask to see the invoice from the factory and check the address on it. if it truely was titled find out where.

This did throw some red flags up for me thats why I asked. I didnt know if this was a standard practice for the factory to sell bikes they may have had for shows to dealerships. I figured if HD sold it to the dealership it may have been titled. I just looked on their website and there is no VIN listed. Im sure if I called they would give it to me. Im just leery of purchasing a "new" bike without some type of warranty. Sounds like I need to start looking for some 13's sitting around. How much does everyone think a new 13 wide glide two tone should go for?

See if you can find a corporate customer service number for Harley. Let them know what's up. See if you can't get the VIN to give them as well... Tell the stealership you need it to get a proper quote on insurance. If they bullshit you, no reason you can't bullshit them too.

Keep us posted man. I love my '13 Wide Glide. Switched over last year from a 2005 ZX-6R that I bought new in 05. You'll be happy on the WG

And as far as 13s are concerned, there's nothing new for 14 except ABS standard and color options... So, who knows how much of a deal you'll get. Especially at a dealer that's trying to **** you around from the get go...

i'd think you could get a 0 mile new 13 for not a while lot more without any issues.

a quick check of cycle trader showed 5 or 6 2010+ wide glides with less than 5k on them for less than 13. some considerably less. and thats before any haggling.

ps. get a fatbob

Something doesn't sound right. I agree with the others, look for a left over '13.

A 2012 with 7 miles, being sold @ $13000 w/o warranty, and from a HD dealership is not worth your effort. That deal doesn't sound right at all! You should get the full 2yr warranty.

MSRP for the 2012 = $14,849 and appx $1000 less than the 2014 @ $15,799.

Invoice on the 2014 = $12640

Invoice on the 2012 is somewhere that I can't find at the moment, but I appxmnt it being $1000 less.
Sooo, $13,000 for that bike sold as new out the door with 2yr warranty is what you should be looking for. That's roughly a fair price for both parties.

Good luck.
