Road King to a Fat Bob. I'm happy with the switch, but I hope to have two bikes after I retire. You can, and I do, tour on the Fat Bob, but the Road King is better for long distance riding.
I went from an 06 RK to my current 08 Street Bob and couldn't be happier. But it's all about personal taste really, I enjoy the SB more no matter if I'm riding around the city or going across a few states.
I did not go from a touring bike to a Dyna.
I added 2 Dyna bikes instead.
Over all if I could only have one my street glide is what I would keep.
I love my Dyna bikes but they are for local riding.
Too old to change I guess.
One more thing I don't like about the touring bikes that I don't hear many complaints about. The damn floor board's I hate. With the wife on it feels like I only have 6 inches between my floor board and the passenger board. I didn't find that very comforting. Maybe I'm nuts.
My last Harley before getting the '02 FXD was a '98 FLTR. I can't/won't call one better than the other, but I loved that RG. Lane splitting generally wasn't a good idea on 'er, but I could blast that behemoth thru traffic with the best of 'em & all day comfort. Never once felt that bagger was too big or heavy.
That said, my FXD is a hoot & I wouldn't hesitate to do long road trips on 'er.

went from an 1999 road king to an 01 wide glide. man, that was sweet. black with harley flames on the tank that I had painted with a deep red, chromed out forks and twisted spokes. Compliments where ever I went. And that bike was feisty. On a 3000 mile ride to/from Sturgis one year the goldwing brother and HD dresser friend were "concerned" that my light bike wouldn't hold up. Ha! totally opposite. Well, sold the WG in 05, bought an flh then five years later bought my 09 Ultra. loved them all.
Now I'm looking at cycletrader for an 01 to 04 WG ( bobtail) because , well, I don't really know. It just feels like I should do it.
