Ordered a set of 412 12" J&P 701-741 definitely dont fit, tried , had to take them off didnt like the feel the bike was getting looked the modded fixings where getting out of shape
Model sent was 412-4036B
Can someone set me straight as to the exact part number I need, i am in Vietnam and it has taken almost 4 months for my mate to get these to me!!
I don't know which 2005 Dyna you have but part 412-4036B should fit your bike just fine. Progressive's website has a nice feature where you enter the year, make, and model of you bike and you get a chart showing all the Progressive parts that fit that bike, with the part numbers.
Matt I'm confused, if they didn't fit how were you able to install them in order to take them off?.. According to the Progressive chart the ones you have should fit at least the 12 inch fit mine perfectly, or course I purchased the 412-4044 heavy duty.
Sorry about late reply was away for the weekend.
Couple pics, can see the top end was fouling which pushed the bottom end out tried fiitting with longer bolts but it didnt feel right and after a short ride looked like they where getting a little out of shape
I'm not quite sure what you meant by "the top end was fouling."
In any event the OE shocks on my 2005 FXDLi did not loook like what I believe is the shock that you are replacing. The one on the right in the first picture. Perhaps someone already replaced the OE shocks and replaced the stock hardware in doing so? Thus, now, the aftermarket hardware they used doesn't work with the Progressive shock?
Obviously, I am just guessing... trying to brainstorm a possible explanation...
Likes like your top bolts are incorrect for a FXD, now if you have a FXDX that's a different version and the old shocks kind of show that. The upper spring cover is hitting the fender strut and I think that is what "fouling" is.
Judging by the shocks & the pics of wrinkle-black rear strut cover & engine covers, methinks he's got an FXDX. Go here- http://www.shopronniesharleydavidson...partfinder.htm and look up the part number for the FXD/FXDL/FXDWG shock strut you'll need.
