Default Daymaker Install glitch

Putting new Daymaker in and not as plug and play as it should be. The OEM plugs in the back nice and clean but the Daymaker has a hanging connection of it's own, problem is it takes up more space in the bucket and does not want to find a sweet spot to allow the lamp to fit in completely.

Then the other problem is the LED male spades are not the same shape/size as the OEM. You'll notice the corners of the spades are squared off whereas the OEM are dog-eared, on top of that they are a little longer and you can't push the two connections completely together, they even struggle against themselves to separate a bit.

Then, on top of that, the basically unhelpful directions mention the rubber gasket but not where it goes, OEM did not have a rubber gasket. It seems like the most likely place for it is between the lamp and the steel spring that faces the lamp when installed. The gasket is flat and sitting on the lamp in one of the pictures.

So, I could take a file to the new spades and dog-ear them and massage them to better fit but that might not be perfect.

Does anyone see any problem with disassembling the connectors and either connecting them or soldering them and then shrink tubing them?

Also, the directions make no mention of the Red wire and the bucket has no connection for it? What's it for?

The Manual has not been any help.

Appreciate all your expertise and thoughts.

Thanks

Default Same ? Here, red wire I mean..

I'm curious about that red wire as well, I didn't finish my install because I didn't know where that red wire went if anywhere at all! Did you finish and leave it that way? Does the light function properly?

From what I understand, the red wire is for Euro bikes. Granted, I don't have the light. But that seems to be the general consensus.

The OP is from February of 2014...for what its worth.

I created a thread recently about my experience installing the Daymaker on a 2015 Street Bob - and I used the new bucket per the parts guide.

The red wire is used with the new bucket. It allows a parking light to light up when you have the ignition in the Accessory position.

My day maker dropped right in, and I used the factory bucket. never hooked up the red wire until I found out it was the little bitty parking light, so I installed a little jumper for it on the low beam wire.

Red wire is for Europe use, it isn't used stateside; put a piece of electrical tape around it to keep it worry free and forget about it.
