Default Xr1200 wheels on fat bob

Ok so thinking of buying some xr1200 wheels for my fat bob. Here are the wheel sizes for the xr1200:

Sportster XR1200 XR1200 2009-2011
front 18x3.0 120/70-18
rear 17x5.5 180/55-17

What are the issues if any running these rim and tire sizes on the fat bob. I'm looking for any opinions whether it's on looks, geometry, etc. any feed back you may have.

If anyone is running an 18" front and a 17" rear that would be helpful as well.

I know this is off topic, but could you post a front photo of that fairing? looks kinda cool!

Go check out my garage for pics.

I'm really interested in feedback about the wheels.

I think it would LOOK rad! No idea if it can be done. (Well, what CAN'T be done with enough time and money, amiright...)
I hope some one can talk you into this, I'd love to see how it turns out!

Yeah I'm trying. Don't know if my rotors would fit, or if I'd need new rotors but could keep my calipers.

Would my pulley work or would I have to swap it?

Lots of questions...

Very cool project, The bolt pattern on the front and rear wheel hub are the same as yours, you can use your rotors on the front, space it out and your good to go.
On the rear, again you can use your hardware (pulley and rotor) you will have to flip the wheel, and space out as the pulley on the xr is on the wrong side for your app.
What I feel would be real trick with your bike the way you have it set up, would be to use the whole front end from the XR (inverted forks), those would look great with your fairing and single light. The wheel fitment on the front would not be a problem at this point.

I agree the whole front end would be sweet, especially the 1200x adjustable one. I've been trying to find one used forever. As for the wheels, they should be pretty easy to fit up, but they're a lot heavier than you think if that's one of your reasons for the swap. I considered those wheels before I did the xb deal until I changed tires on one. They gotta be as heavy if not heavier than dyna mags.

The main reason for the swap is just looks.

I would want to keep my existing front end, but just mount the rims and tires.

Here's what I know so far:

The axle is the same on both the dyna and sportster.

The brake rotors are the same size.

The pulley on the sportster is 68T whereas the dyna is 66T. I am almost positive that my pulley will bolt right up to the xr1200 rim, but I don't know what the difference of the hub width is between the fat bob rim and the xr1200 rim. So the pulley may not line up in-line.

There there is the issue of spacers. Which ones, or will i have to have spacers custom made?

I gave a call to Harley corporate to try to get some information on these questions. Basically (and get this!) they told me that Harley will NOT support me doing any changes to my bike that takes off stock parts. I told them all I was looking for was measurement information on their parts, so they agreed he would look into it and call me back.

Please feel free to jump in with anything that can help.

Not sure about the over all wheel diameter of 130/90-16 (stock FXDF) compared to a 120/70-18 wheel might be, but I think you should consider the FXDF front fender fitment.

It could be another vote for a complete front end swap.
