I bought a set of the swingarm covers to cover my rear axle nuts on a '98 superglide off e-bay. When they came in they look perfect except....they have no mounting hardware. From what I can tell they each need 2 bolts and some sort of plate that goes on the inside of the swingarm to hold the covers in place. Am I correct? Anyone know if you can get is plate from harley or anyone got an idea of something else I could use as a plate that wouldn't look gheto? Guess next time I need to ask "does it come with mounting hardware" huh.... I assumed.... wrong. Thanks!
I just put those same covers on my bike. You are right, there is 2 bolts and a plate for each side.
Once they are installed, you will not be able to see them, so if you can make the plates from some stainless steel, with a bolt hole in each end, and find some stainless bolts you should be in business.
I am at work right now, or I would take mine off and give you some measurements for the plates, and the bolt size. I,m not sure if you can get them from the dealer, as a seperate item.
Actually, if you are not in a big hurry, I could make the plates and send them to you.
I work in a machine shop, so I have access to all kinds of metal working machines.
Let me know if you need the dimensions for the plates.
