99 dx + RT shocks + my luck = mucho problemo
I bought my 99 fxdx with progressive 412's on it. I'm guessing that means that they would have swapped the upper rear shock mounts to fit the progressives? I hadn't thought of that before I ordered my race techs so now the problems I've run into are 1. the lower shock bolt is too long. no problem just used a couple shorter grade 8 bolts and nyloc nuts. 2. and more importantly is that the upper mount isn't threaded all the way to the fender and the shocks' bushings aren't wide enough to reach from fender to threads and 3. even if the mounts were correct the left shock would make contact with my belt guard. So we got some spacers machined to reach from fender to shock bushing. Now obviously this isn't the best way to do it, but it will have to work for a little while. So can anyone educate me on what the stock 99 dx shock mount situation is. If I get stock mounts will the shock clear my belt guard?
