Default Thunderheader bracket

I've been running my thunder header for about 4 years now with no issues with the mounts. However the other day my step brother was giving me a hand with the bike and he noticed that I had mounted my bracket to the trans different than he did. The rear bolt with the stud on it is the bolt I'm concerned about. You can see I used it as a regular bolt, and (sorry no pics) he screwed the bolt into the trans first, then mounted the bracket on the stud portion of the bolt and secured with a nut. He just recently bought his theader, so I'm not sure if they have changed the mount or if one of us mounted it wrong. How did you mount yours?

Right in that's what I thought thanks man. Your bracket seems to have a lot more weld on it than mine. Wonder if I sould re weld that when I have the pipe powdered

This is where my OCD takes over......Change that stud/bolt for a proper matching bolt!! I know I know, but geesh, a bike can look so much cleaner with proper hardware.

I even changed the rear mounting bolts to stainless button heads, the T Header bolts supplied were terrible.

Using the stainless button head bolts installed from the swing arm side allows much easier mounting. Just use a magnet to hold the nut in the T Header until u get the bolt started. When I got my bike the fella had long bolts installed on the exhaust side and they were so long they hit my swingarm! (14 inch shocks)

Glad I have a great bolt supplier 3 miles away.

Its still new, I havent got to log any miles on it. I am gonna end up using VHT on it to touch up a scratch from a jack that rubbed it during transport. Lots of guys use that paint and like it.

i like the t header

so i realize this is of topic but look at what happened to the bracket for my bub 7 2-1. this is the craddle part that goes from the bracket to the muffler. they put slots in it so you can install the slash cut down or up.

seems like a sweet idea ontill this happens

then this is the fix, stronger than ever
