Also be sure to use a good clean microfiber cloth. Below is a good link for detail items that is a must for most.

Try colored Turtle wax. They make it in many colors. Black and Red seem to work the best. Walmart. I use it on my vivid black FXDL and the red on my custom painted '83 FXRS. It fills in scratches and will bring back faded colors.
