I hace a 99 TC88 and I just did my first oil change....the Indy sold me 3qts and it seems to want more. Under capacities, the HD manual states 3qts. With 3qts in, and the engine at operating temp the dip stick is reading about a 1/2qt low. I'm gonna put in more oil in so the stick reads good on FULL.
When you do an oil change how much do you typically put back in?
My FXDC says 3 QTS., but I can only get 2 1/2 in when changing. Are you screwing the dipstick in when you check it? My manual says screw it in to check, not just stick it in without screwing it in.

It's all the way in

2.5 qts is what you need for a standard oil change.... assuming you have a stock bike with stock pan and no oil coolers, etc.
My manual says the same...I had my cam chest open, removed the cam plate and replaced all the cam bearings....that probably has something to do with it.
I'm not too worried about it....was just trying to see how accurate the 2.5-3qts in the manual was.
