Ok, I need to vent ........ I pulled my '13 FXDF out after work last night to go for a spin and was letting it idle for a minute while I put my jacket and helmet on and come outside to see my buddy sitting on it checking it out ( no big deal right? ) all of a sudden he goes to set it back on the stand and drops it! Luckily on the left side, and luckily I had just installed HD factory saddle bags ( which saved the day btw ). Ended up with a bent shifter, scratched primary case and derby cover, scratched mirror and scratched clutch lever. Gladly he was not hurt which was my first concern, but now its like I cant help but be like WTF!?! So, What would you do?
Funny thing(not really), a very close friend did the same to my 08 when it was only a few weeks old. Yeah, there was a few drinks involved. I came outside to find him pinned under the bike, and up against the truck. I wish I had taken a picture.... Anyway, he offered to pay for everything( no real damage), I declined, and laughed(drinks). He showed up when I was getting the bike tuned, and paid for the whole thing. First time I've discussed this with anyone.
I have a few friends that don't ride. Some get it, and some don't.
How banged up is the bike? Is his ego more bruised? How close of a fronds is he?
All people are different & not all friends are "true friends". His reaction is what tells the story...if he's a true stand up dude he will pay for all the damages out of his pocket. If he doesn't offer to do this, friendship over.
Be interesting to see the outcome of this and what your friend does (if anything) to make it right.
Send your buddy a bill. If he is really a good friend, he will assume responsibility for his mistake and pay for the repairs, if not, there is always Judge Judy, lol.
The the F*&K is up with people thinking that can randomly sit on someone's bike?????????
.......I mean you wouldn't open someone door and sit in their car randomly or walk inside a strangers home. I hear this kinda thing all the time with people sitting on someones bike and 90% of the time it doesn't end well.
I would demand him paying for all damages w/o a doubt!
Had a buddy of mine do the exact same thing. Only when he knocked my dyna over it fell into my bagger! The dyna tank hit the crash bar on the baggers bags and put a huge dent in the tank. The clutch lever also gouged the top of the bag pretty good. Took everything I had to not choke the life out of him, but he wrote me a check for the price of a new color matched tank and I mysteriously ended up with a new paint job on the bike. I thought it was a pretty good trade off since I didn't make him fix the bagger but to say the least he's not allowed within 10 feet of my bikes anymore. Hopefully your buddy will do the right thing and pay for the damages along with a case of beer
If hes not cool enough to offer to cover what he damaged...go Chuck Norris style and roundhouse kick the mirror of his vehicle. It only works if you do the sweet round house kick while hes watching then go grab his wife's ***.
But if you guys are good friends, (and obviously the bike is still ride able) you could let him replace a part or two at a time if he doesn't have the cash oh hand for the whole thing. $hit happens, hopefully it works out! Sorry to hear about the bike!
Lmao! Love the first sentence! If I had sat on a friends bike and dropped it, no question about it. I would pay for it. End of story.
2 things I dont allow... touching my ol' lady or my scooter (permission may granted in the case of the scooter if I am present and we are like brothers..)... otherwise... doing either will get you a ride to the hospital or the morgue..
Time for him to pony up the $$$.. and like some have said.. a few cold ones.. if the friendship is to last at all...
