If you click on my name and go to my album I have a pic in there with a fatboy bucket visor trim ring and trucklite phase 7.
I am not sure how to post it on this reply.
Agree there's way more options in the 7 but he thinks 7" too big. I wanted a 7 as well but with my narrow front end I can't swing it, I could but it would look like a satellite dish on there.
With the other photos at different angles it actually looks ok. I think it also makes a difference which bucket you get. I want to get the trucklite phase 7 headlight.
I have a Fat Bob and also wanted a single bucket but thought the Fat Boy headlight that so many use looks too big.
I bought a complete 6 1/2" set up off eBay for about $80. I think the size looks just right.
When you make the switch, you will have to do some wiring work as the FDXF is set up for 2 headlights inside the bucket - you can't just unplug the connector and plug in the new one. I bought a set of waterproof connectors, cut the headlight wire 1/2 way between the headlight and where the wire disappears into the harness and installed the connectors there. I also put a connector on the "stub" wire coming out of the stock headlight. This way, it's just a few minutes to swap between the 2 headlights if I want to change the look.
The other thing I had to do was buy a longer mounting bolt. The stock bolt wouldn't fit the single headlight mounting block and the one that came with the headlight was way too short.
Hi,
my name is paul from berlin germany. I got my licence last fall and a fat bob. I really love the bike except of the dual lights. Want to get the 7 inch "fat boy" type of lights and asked my dealer, they want 750 for the exchange. That is too much for me right now, but still i would love to have the big single light this summer. Then i saw a picture of your bike and would like to ask if you`d tell me what brand this is and how much it did cost you. The bezel looks like http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/he.../part/1-7028ZA did you pay that much.
I would really appreachiate an answer, thanks in adwance, Paul.
I have a 6 1/2" headlight on my '02 Dyna. A perfect size IMHO, not too big & not too small & has a nice teardrop shape too it like the springer headlights. It's less than $100 from J&P Cycle. Here's a link w/ a photo from a previous post. See page 2.
