What's your budget and are you doing the work yourself? It can add up, real easy to get into the "if I do this then I mind as well do that" game. Also there is a bit of the "domino" effect - if you go bigger here then now I have to get a better..... Anyway, we probably can help better if we have a good idea of how far you can go - it is fun though

Default Clutch Upgrade Questions

Hey all, at the end of my engine build I had a dyno done and it revealed some clutch slippage. Steve at GMR recommended a Bandit Machine clutch which costs ~ $500. Seems like a big jump to go from a $30 clutch spring like the Barnett Heavy Duty one I use to a $500 clutch. I know I can get a Rivera Prima Pro for about $400 but what about just putting in new friction plates from Barnett?

Do you go for Kevlar or Carbon Fiber? This option only costs ~ $115 to $140 depending on whether you buy the steel plates too.

Do you do the plus 1 option where Barnett adds an extra friction plate?

Anyway, any input on clutches is welcomed, still have a lot of learning to do in this area.

I am very interested to know this as well and get some solid input since I have also been thinking about the $500 clutches or plates........but wondering if in the end after getting just new plates will I just buy one of the $500 setups???

Heard this is good to use with upgraded clutches, input on this....

One thing I will add right away is that Steve(GMR) has seen some clutch/transmission failures on bikes using weights to help operate the clutch. The added weight adds stress on the transmission area and was not recommended.
