From what I have read it is a battery issue.
Questions:
Was the compression raised to What?
No compression releases, can result in a damaged starter. Without cr it is really hard on a battery and it can cause starter damage. The head light should go out when cranking or at least get dim because of the extra current draw. Try a 140 amp battery. My 113 won't turn over unless the CR's are open
Also if the battery was ever drained completely it may not be up to par for it to crank the bike.
With the light fuse pulled how does it turn over? good or fair.
I would start with the battery cables. Take them apart on both ends, clean them up, and retighten them. Also go through every fuse and clean and put deelectric grease on them.
I doubt very much it is the starter...if it still gives you problems try replacing the starter relays. I have a feeling there is some corrosion somewhere.
Once you fix it, ride it...move it or lose it. Dyna's can't stand sitting in one place for too long
I have to agree. Harleys need to be ridden. She needs more attention. She feels neglected.
Hey bud, think maybe you answered your own question in your last sentence. because I also think a new starter/solenoid would be in order.... another guess would be that there's a internal short (maybe intermittent) happening somewhere in that starter that's killing those batteries. just a machinist (mostly mechanical minded) here so take my comments with a grain of salt eh!
