Californiafatbob, I have to agree with you about taking care of your investment/motorcycle...it isn't worth it to run the motor leaner than it already is from the factory. You gave sound advice.

OP, you are going to LOVE the bike after the tuner is installed. I noticed a huge change when I had my PCV installed. Not to mention the peace of mind. Idling in traffic or stop and go traffic; where the engine gets no air moving around it...scared me...as I had a SE air cleaner and passed on the stage one "download". Running lean is a big deal, until you are stuck in traffic and feel the heat from the engine...not good.

I meant mass air only, not liquid cooled on the Harleys

Seems to be an appropriate thread to post this.. Hope I don't reignite the arguments but here goes. Took this picture a couple hundred miles after installing my fuel pack (piece of crap). Left: front cyl, right: rear. Front looks lean to me, the bike sure seems like it runs hot and lean

Yes your rear plug would be more like what I would like to see. and there's an obvious difference between the two there. Mine almost looked "flaky white". Im going to clean them off before I take my first cruise here before I install the PCV. I remember reading the PCV can adjust timing and fuel per cylinder so that may be useful in a good tune.

There are still things you need to look for when reading a plug.........and yes you can still read a plug..... Do you know what a timing mark is ????? simple question, can you answer it ??????
If you do a little research instead of writing about issues you may not know much about, maybe you would come back with a slightly different opinion..........
And by the way, I do know what year it is.........(1976) + 38 or 114,798 divided by 57 =.....LAMO.........
Maybe you should ask what his cylinder temps are............That might be something to look at.....Shoot maybe 250 - 260 are good numbers, what do you think.........or can you answer that one ???????
You know..... all I was trying to do was provide some helpful info for someone who ask for it, and all you get back from this forum is a bunch of sarcastic crap........from people whom probably barely know to ride a bike, let alone work on one, put fuel in it, or diagnose that they may have a problem............
Put fuel in it and ride............and when something goes wrong the....
HD mechanics will fix it......$$$$$$$$$$$$$................
But you are right about one thing and one thing only.....I do not know everything and would never admit that I do, but I learn something new ever day that goes by............
What a waste of time................
Wow! Have you tried ''anger management''?

Yea and it wasn't in my plans for a while but, hey we only live once... got to get it done while were here!
Personally I like the arguments. I wonder how many of us would actually get along in person??

O but harley has been looking to go that way for a few years now...
Francis is surfing for 13" shocks and new springs for the front end...right now...I just saw he bought Bad&G bags...he is soooo...done...once that PCV is installed and he twists that throttle, feels that response...he is moving on to cams, boring and new lifters...a 30T sprocket...
