Default Long Haul on a wide glide

I have a Ultra Classic, longest trip was 500 miles one way, I arrived at my destination after 8 hours of riding and felt like I could go more. My nephew was home on leave from the Navy last week and bought a Dyna Wide Glide, him, and his pregnant wife left Monday with there 1 yr old daughter to head to San Diego. He left the bike with me and I'm thinking about riding out to San Diego next weekend, it's 2,100 miles going through St Louis heading west. Am I biting off more than I can chew by trying this on a wide glide or should it not matter the difference in bikes? The WG has a windshield on it, but its not a Batwing for sure. Any advise would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

you can do 500 miles a day on a dyna but you're going to notice the difference ! but as long as you take breaks you should be ok .

I rode mine to Sturgis and back, and was fine. You'll probably want to look for a better seat.

I've done 1,000 miles in a day on my Dyna but yea you need a good seat.
Obviously the seat in my sig pic is not the seat I would use on a long ride. I have a Mustang Vintage solo for that purpose.
If he has the stock seat on his Wide Glide you might have to make more stops.

I've done 740 miles a day- 12 hr leg.

If you pack right lay back on the gear and have a great trip!

I like to stop a lot though, and enjoy the sights.

All my long long runs have been on a basically stock dyna.
I ride on a stock seat. Fold a thin blanket or towel under you and throw sheeps wool over it, you will be fine.
And,
wear comparession shorts.

If you are going through Kansas City, do I assume correctly that you are going to run I-70 through denver and the mountains then turn south in Utah?

I-70 is a drag strip from Kansas City to Denver. 640 miles of straight flat road. Do it in one day or night. No reason to stop other than fuel. Not worth getting a hotel room. I've ran that stretch many times comuting from KC to Denver and back. Beyond Denver, it is beautiful and the western slope and points west is totally different than the eastern slope and points east.

It can be done, wife and I rode to Atlanta on my Wide Glide, with 10 days worth of gear, no windshield and open drag pipes. It will not be as comfortable or as easy like being on your Ultra. Be prepared to be more fatigued and to take more breaks.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. Joneesee, actually running from Lafayette In to St Louis, Tulsa, Amarillo then lay up for the night. Day 2 Albuquerque, Phoenix and if I'm pretty tired may stay in Yuma or just push through to San Diego. I've been told there's a lot of 75 mph speed limits that route, make the ticket less expensive when you get pulled over.
