Got to say i am very happy with this new seat!! I read various posts about the comfort levels with this seat and I personally think its very comfortable ... admittedly only did about 50 miles on it so far but I feel comfortable AND feel I can reach my forwards better as my legs are not pushed out sideways like with the stock bucket!!
recommended if anyone was thinking about taking the plunge!!
Have had mine for 20k miles now. .added the gel when ordered. My friend has it as well. We rode our bikes 1000 mi in a day from No. VA to Miami. About half way through we couldn't feel anything but it got us there.
What others said about stopping every hour or so is true though.
I've looked at other seats but this one just looks too good and sits you in the bike rather than on top of it. .don't like wide seats either they push your legs out like someone mentioned above.
I really like the Bare Bones seat but I don"t have any experience using it with mid controls. In fact I like it so much that I'm probably going to buy one for my '07. I have the seat on my '03 FXDL which right now is out of commission, but not on my '07. Just my luck that the seats do not interchange between the two model years.
I find that a comfortable seat, for normal riding anyway, is dependent less on the thickness and more on the cradle shape. I have no doubt that this thing is comfortable. It's only on the super long days that a cushier seat might provide a bit more comfort.
