I got them used and the heat shield was notched out at the floor board. I spaced out the floorboard with a 1/2 inch washer to give a little clearance and bolted them up. I have heard you just need to space the floor board out some and you dont have to notch the heat shield. Not sure though the sheild was already notched out.
I've been running V&H Monster duals on mine since I bought it in '12, they have a nice deep throaty sound to them. I had to modify the hanger on the cross over pipe a bit to make it stop squeaking when idling. a minor bend in the hanger to pinch the rubber isolator was all she needed. thinking of installing some Big City Thunder baffles next.
