Total DIY. Service manual all the way. Do you have a lift? If not, get one, you'll need it. I use a js jack but my buddies have some full table lifts they scored at around $400. That way all your future services will be just as easy.

The skills required for the work your asking about can be found on youtube and can be done by anyone. Of course the factory service manual is a plus.
As for me, I change all three hole every 5,000 miles just because it's easy and cheap to do.
it's gonna cost you around $70.00.......you'll need (5) qts of your preferred oil....2.5 for motor...1 for primary and 1 for tranny....(1) derby cover gasket...(1) oil filter...and don't forget to replace the (3) o rings on the drain plugs.

I think every service on a Harley could be considered DIY. Armed with a service manual, the guidance of this forum, and a few basic tools there's little reason to take a bike to a dealership.

A jack will make it easier, but not totally necessary. I'm using a $99 Craftsman red jack modified based on instructions I found on this forum.

There are a few things in the service manual that just skip, or lack detail, on instructions, but those can be filled in by Youtube videos or just asking here. Besides the jack, I'd recommend at least a 1/4 and 3/8 drive torque wrench; even Harbor Freight cheapies beat most folks' arm guessing. The 1/4 is for case screws - they're just so easy to strip out, judging from what I've read here (I always use torque wrenches, never had that problem), and a cheap torque wrench beats a stripped out hole in a primary case. A 5 year old grandkid helps for the tight places, too.

That 5 year old grandkid of yours looks more capable than most HD techs at my local dealer and he probably had a better attitude!
Classic! great photo!
