When I am riding I hear a sound that sound like valves knocking. Not crazy nut loud enough to hear when cruising down the highway. Is that normal for a Harley?

 

Usually when describing valve noise its more of a chatter or typewriter sound to most.

Are you hearing ticking maybe? I have a lot and have done a bunch of things to try and quiet it down. Next step for me is to replace rockers but not till next winter as I'm tired of tearing into it for now.

If yous is not crazy loud as you say then its probably normal.

I did similar work to my brothers bike and his is quiet...mine is one of the loud ones as Harley would say.

 

More info would be helpful. Starting with what bike you have, carb or EFI? Does it happen at any speed/rpm, which gear, does it increase or decrease with speed, when you accelerate or decelerate?
Could be normal or not, just don't have enough to go on.
