Oil consumption?

My o6 dyna has always burned oil. Now I am adding 1 quart about every 2500 miles. Not a drop on the floor and its not leakin into primary. How much consumption is just too much?

Bought the bike new and now has 82,500. Been using syn 3 in motor since new. Wife use to work at dealership and got a bad *** discount (cost plus 10%, which on maintenance items equals about 40% discount) before she quit I bought something like 20 qts and have about 10 left. When traveling I top it off with Mobil 1 20/50 because I don't want to haul oil around the country.

How much oil consumption do you guys have?

Thinking of doing a 98" top end and lookin for legit reason to justify it. ( hint,hint)

1 qt every 2500 sounds pretty reasonable for 82,000 mi.

Harley recon one quart per 1000 miles maximum. Sounds a lot but thats what they say.

I understand its apples and oranges, but I used to work at a GM dealer and they had a tech bulletin that claimed a quart of oil every 1500 miles was completely acceptable. Seems excessive to me.

Sounds like a perfectly good reason to justify a 98" kit.

I know it seems a lot but if there is no plug fowling, exhaust smoke or loss of compression there is no detriment, apart from remembering to top up on a regular basis and carrying some on long trips.

I have had rental bikes for long trips and they gave you a spare quart to carry in the saddle bags.
