Default paint chip touch up question

Received my first chip yesterday on the upper part of the frame by the light would like to touch it up as it does not go down to metal just down to grey primer would filling area in with paint suffice or should it be sanded prior to touching up and yes before I'm blasted I know I'm going to get more rock chips it comes with riding but my pride of ownership compels me to keep my ride in as good condition as possible

No sanding required just touch it up with multiple applications allowing for drying time between coats. Try to keep the paint as much inside the chipped area as possible. You don't want to make the repair any bigger than the damage.
