I just purchased a 1997 Lowrider. It has a lot of chrome and many nice accessories. In the back of the owners manual, the previous owner listed carb re-jetting. Jet size 0.45/.170. From reading about jets, this seems to be a larger than stock size jet. Does this size jet give the engine better performance?
Also, the rocker covers have a custom color stripe between the chrome. Did Harley ever have this option from the factory or does this indicate some engine work might have been done. Is there any way to tell if the engine has been modified or is the best result on a dyno?
Thanks.

Welcome! The jets are increased in size because Harley's are lean from the factory for emissions. Is there an air cleaner or aftermarket pipes on the bike? This could be also why the po rejetted. Check out the evo section on the forum. You will get the best info for your bike over there.
I have a 98 lowrider. I just jetted it to a 45 as well. The stock 42 is too lean for exhaust changes. You'll probably be fine with the jetting if it's running good.
