Have you done a similar mileage off road, that you do on a Harley, your money, your choice.
I only ride my Harley on dirt 10 miles out and 10 back to my house the rest
of the time is spent on asphalt. My dirt bikes and wheelers lived in the sand.
I seen a thread on another forum talking about which is better chain or belt
and someone mentioned sand being harder on belt drive pulleys,so I walked
out to the shed to inspect mine and was horrified at the amount of wear I
have already.
my tone means I don't think your answers are addressing anyone's questions.
I honestly want to know why sport bikes never use belts. I understand why they would be better for traditional cruiser applications, and would think they would be for sport bikes too, but clearly they are not.
It think its obvious why chains are better for dirt bikes and the like.

So belts are maintenance free and last forever(ish), but rob a bit of power
Chains are efficient, provide more wheel clearance, but are dirty and wear out quicker in road applications.
That would explain why dirt and crotch rockets use chain and cruisers use belts..
