Default Tail Light Relocation

Thinking of moving tail lights. Not thrilled with the HD kit. Anyone tried the laid down license plate mount by Custom Chrome using the existing tail light mounts?

I used a genericlay down plate bracket and frame from J&P (about $30). I made the metal brackets. The posts are a couple of alum spacers I had lying around from another project. The license plate is held on with SS allen bolts. But I think I'm going to change them to button heads, that might look better.

Nice job. I like the enclosed look. That's what caught my eye about the Custom Chrome setup. How much work was involved in rewiring? Did you do it without removing the fender?

"rewiring" was easy. The wires needed to be a tad longer, so I just cut and soldered. I drilled a hole in the back of the plate bracket, and ran the wires through the bracket, then down the stock hole and into the back of the lamp housing, just like stock.

No need to remove the fender for anything.

At first I made a single bracket that went all the way across the top. Looked to blocky/bulky. So I drilled some holes in it. Still didn't look good. Then I tried tapering in the middle. Still didn't like it. I tossed those out, and made two individual brackets. Looks more pleasing to the eye (IMO).

I went with the Panacea taillight with the signals integrated and then dropped the rear turn signals completely
