Default Softbrake Plate Bracket Install...How To

Ok I've had the softbrake parts to install on my deluxe sitting around for a month finally had some time today with the wife off xmas shopping so i decided to photo the install because I have seen quite a few questions regarding wiring the LED tail light frame. I bought the radiantz led frame. We all know how to unbolt the up top stuff but it helps having the bike up on a jack to get at the 3 rear nuts plus a 7/16 deep socket 1/4 inch drive and a handy little thumb drive courtesy of sears(you don't need this but it was sure nice on this install unless you have tiny little hands) once you pop off the tombstone and remove harness housing cover under the fender you can get at the 3 nuts holding the tail light assembly to fender.

Now I had to fit my license plate to radiantz bracket

as you can see the plate was slightly larger than the bracket so I had to break out my handy tin snips and trim off about 3/16 and round out the corners a bit

Once I got the plate fitting perfectly in the radiantz bracket I cut a little notch for the power wire

Now I bolted the radiantz bracket to the softbrake plate bracket you will have a small amount of up and down play so slide the radiantz as far up as possible and this will give you a slight opening for the power wire to squeak through and tighten the 4 nuts holding the radiantz to the softbrake bracket

Loosen the 2 nuts holding the turn signal bar to the fender no need to take them out then slide the softbrake bracket up to holes for the tail light assembly

now bolt the tail light assembly back on over the softbrake bracket putting back the 3 nuts and the harness housing.

hopefully from this side photo you can see there is plenty of room between the tail light housing and fender to run the plate light wires

Now I spliced the wires into the old plate light and I know you guys are gonna do a much better job on this than I did lol

you have to bend down and look closely between the radiantz bracket and the turn signal bar to even see the wire

Don't forget to tighten up the 2 bolts on the turn signal bar !

And now the finished product gotta love how this cleans up the back of the bike

Yep, gonna get that too. Hey Vette, does the license plate really light up bright, or is it just enough to see the tag? Cops around here may harass me if its not bright enough.

One other thing is there a reason you didn't wire it through the fender

I was originally planning on doing that but it was so easy to run the wires straight up to the light assembly.

Looks great, I opted to not even run a tag light after my softbarke tag conversion.
