Breaking in an overhauled engine...
I always alter my speeds. ride at 55 for a while-5-10 miles then maybe 60, then 50, then back to 55. At 50 miles I let it go fer a spell. Then let it cool. Start all over again. At 100 miles I let it go again. I start at keeping my rpm's below or at 3,000, after 100 I stay with 4,000 except when I let it go.
I have been doing this for many many years and never had a problem or did I ever get one that used oil. When you crank if pay attention to the rpm's. If it is a strong build like mine you want to keep the rpm's below 1700 or less. Mine is stubborn when cold so I have to pay attention when I first crank it. I have 7,000 miles on my build now it is a lot stronger than when I built it.
