How about you tell me where in the manual it says HOW to remove the clutch cable instead of just saying REMOVE CLUTCH CABLE.

Unless thats not what you wanted me to read and you were being cryptic. In which case, I still insist you aid a fellow biker looking for assistance since you are so old and wise.

How about that huh?

I would suggest torqueing all the triple tree bolts to spec, after setting the height. I have read where they come loose on the highway. You probably already did, but if not, check them all.

loosen all the adjustment at the adjuster on the downtube, undo the snap ring on the bottem of the pin that the clutch lever pivots on , remove the pin , off comes the lever, then the cable..

Yup, actually tried that but the cable was too tight to remove the lever. Didn't want to mess with the adjustment on the line down below in case I made it too loose.

The Harley workshop manual is not for beginners, it's for people with some mechanical knowledge.

I can appreciate where you're coming from but I've been working on cars for over 20 years. Did work on my other bikes(BMW's and Ducati) And this is the first manual that doesn't go into detail. I mean, it ridiculously recommends only tools found at the dealership and they don't even know what they are.

What would be worthless about a $3 bill?

Maybe the service manager didn't want you messing
with the steering because you had to call to find what
size wrench you needed.

Do you own a tape measure?

Wow, you guys are really trying hard to get at me here. Yeah I own a tape measure. Again, I would expect a shop manual to be able to give me the appropriate sized tools needed for specific jobs, and it doesn't.

Dont let em get to you my friend. I am novice at working on Harleys and I agree that the manual could be written a little more user friendly. But maybe it is written in mind that they assume you know a good deal about these bikes.

Usually when I go to do something the first time on my bike I read the manual section I need 3x's then try find a video of someone actually doing the work. I am a big visual learner.

You have to turn in the adjuster all the way in. Don't worry about it being too loose, when you're done doing whatever you readjust the cable. If you ever adjust the clutch the first thing you do is loosen the cable all the way, it's part of the procedure.
