Default Wide Glide Too Hard To Ride??

Hi All,

I am looking to upgrade to a 2014 Wide Glide but I am getting a lot of negative press saying that around town they are too hard to ride because of the big rake - Comments please.

I don't think they are harder to ride, every bike has different characteristics. Just takes some road time to get use to it.

Compared to what?

I don't have a Wide Glide, but I did have a Night Train softail for 8 years. pretty decent rake to that bike as well, and i never had an issue riding it anywhere.

Pffft… that negative info probably came from the internet didn't it. I had never owned a bike until I bought my Wide Glide, and I've never had any trouble around town

I went from sportster to a Wide a Glide. I have t had any trouble with it. Maybe you just been talking to jealous people. Kinda like when you ask about the hot chick you want to bang and all the guys say no she's nasty and so and so. If they can't have it they don't want you to either

Default Hard to ride?

Have a '99,it's never been an issue! Has a little different "feel"' but it is not anymore difficult to ride than any other.

That's mostly a myth perpetuated by people with little or no actual experience with these bikes.

The first bike my wife ever drove (after the 250 cc or whatever in motocycle safety class) was a Rocker with 35 degrees of rake, and she does fine on that. Our second bike is a Wideglide (about the same rake), and that's actually a little easier to drive. She's comfortable on both. Yes, the added rake can take a little getting used to, and they aren't as good for ultra-low speed maneuvering, like slower than walking speed.

But the funny thing is that we got her the Rocker before she learned how to ride, and motorcyclists where she worked, seeing photos, said it would be too hard to ride. I'd ridden it back-to-back with a Dyna custom (standard rake) before we purchased it, so I knew it wouldn't be a big deal.

I use my trike all over. once you get used to it you don't even think about it. It doesn't take very long either maybe a couple of rides.

When at very low speed where you actually turn the handlebars to steer is where you feel some heaviness. Not bad just a little more effort to turn the bars. It's really no big deal at all. After 10 minuets or so it doesn't even occur to your mind anymore.
